Cherry Creek Path
Description:
The most accessible running path to downtown is the Cherry Creek Trail which starts in the Northwest corner of downtown (Confluence Park, which connects to the Platte River Trail), runs all the way down to Cherry Creek State Park, near Englewood, which is Southeast of Denver and continues south to Parker.   This path is devoid of almost all traffic intersections, which makes for much safer running downtown.  After leaving downtown, the path passes several parks and the Cherry Creek shopping district.

Platte River Path
Description:
This path follows the Platte River from the Northern Suburbs, past downtown, and south to Chatfield State Park just south of Littleton.

Terrain: 
Most paved bike path.

 
Bear Creek Trail
Description:
Great hike and bike path that connects the western foothills to the Platte River Trail.

Terrain: 
Paved and unpaved trail.

 
Mt. Falcon
Description:
One of the most popular Jefferson County Open Space Trails.  A great course for beginners to advanced trail runners.  Also a popular mountain biking venue.

Length:
Several trails, each 1 - 3 miles long.

Difficulty:
Beginner to Advanced

Terrain: 
Most trails are single path, some with technical areas.  Main path on top is wide.

Deer Creek
Description:
Challenging climb with terrific views of Chatfield Lake and South Denver.

Length:
Over 11 miles of trails.

Difficulty:
Intermediate to Advanced

Terrain: 
All dirt trails, mostly singletrack.

Highline Canal Trail
Description:
Denver's longest (about 58 miles) suburban hike and bike path - this trail runs from Waterton Canyon, in the far SW end of the region, through a variety of neighborhoods, to eastern Aurora.

Length:
About 58 miles.

Difficulty:
Flat bike path.

Terrain: 
Primarily a crushed dirt path with some paved sections

Start locations:
South Denver:  Hampden and Quincy access.
South suburbs:  Orchard Street, deKoevend Park, County Line west of and Broadway
Southeast Denver:  Bible Park
Aurora:  Mississippi and Parker, Expo Park

Big Dry Creek Trail
Description:
The Big Dry Creek Trail is an important connector trail between the Platte River Trail system - the Mary Carter Greenway - and the Highline Canal Trail.
