2026 Fall Marathon Training Series

These Marathon training races are geared towards people training for spring marathons. They are supported runs with aid stations and are timed and scored. 

There are both 10 mile and 20-mile distances for people who are training for either a half marathon or a full marathon.

Come and join us for a fun, competitive training run to get your training off to a great start!!!!

1st Fall Marathon Training Series Race

Race Day Details

Date:   Sunday August 30th
Time:   7 am start.  Show up at least 15 minutes early to get your tag and warm up. 
Location = Riverwalk Ballfields in Thornton. The ballfields are located at the intersection of 100th Avenue and Riverdale Road in Thornton.

Race Day Details

Date:   Saturday April 11th
Time:   8am start.  Show up at least 30 minutes early to get your tag and warm up. 
Location = Platte River Trailhead Park. The park is located at the intersection of 88th Avenue and Colorado Blvd. in Thornton.
Parking:  Plenty of parking at the park.                                                              Registration:  For non-members, it is $20 for the 10 mile and $25 for the 20 mile race. Use the following link to register. Members are 50% off of these rates. Race day signup goes up by $5 per race.

Course:

The course for the spring MTS races is out-n-back 2.5mi N, then out-n-back 2.5mi S. Repeat for 20mi. Mostly flat. Paved.
 
Aid stations:
2.5 & 12.5 – water
5, 7, 8, 10, 17,18 – water, Gatorade, gels

Course: The start and finish are at Platte River Trailhead Park. You will be running south on the Platte River Trail for 5 miles and then will turn around and return to the start/finish area. If you are running the 10 mile race, you will finish at that point, if you are running the 20 mile race, you will turn around and repeat the course again. December 2026 Trophy Series 4.5M

December brings RMRR back to Denver’s Washington Park, one of our favorite courses.  We’ll all run a 4.5M course that loops around the park twice.

Race Day Details

Date:   Sunday December 6th
Time 9 am start.  Show up at least 30 minutes early to get your tag and warm up. We will have volunteers helping you to find your tag.
Course:  Race runs 2 laps on the paved road around Wash Park.
Location and Parking:  park on the east side of the park near Mississippi and Franklin. 

New Members and Guests pre-registration:

Use the following RunSignup link to pre-register for this race if you are not a member of the Rocky Mountain Road Runners. Since Rocky Mountain Road Runners is an all-volunteer organization, online registration will not be available the day before the race to allow our volunteers to prepare for the race. Registration will be available race day morning. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the race to register on race day.

We use our traditional handicap system, slow runners start first, fast runners start last, spread out over about 25 minutes for this race. We’ll help you pick an appropriate start time with others around your speed.
