February Board Meeting Minutes

Minutes from the RMRR Board meeting held on Tuesday, Feb 3, 2009.

Attendees: Deb Cunningham, Aurora, Eric Greene, Kevin Downing, Mike Quispie, Ray Sibley, Dave Cunningham, David Rothenburger, Heather Reddy, Felix Lopez, Lisa Champeau, Stephanie Struble, Doug Smith, Bonnie Keefe

Absent: Holly, Laurie, Bob, Jim, Leslie, Ric, Brad

Successes: (5 mins)

  • 111 participated in 2008 Jan TS vs 99 in 2007. 23 new members at race.
  • We’re good to go at Heritage for the relay.
  • Micol Rothman-Haji volunteered to get more involved during 2009. Looking for work she can do for the club in the evenings.
  • Aurora Arlet will assist with publicity for 50th.
  • Yvonne Allmaras will lead walk group Sat. am at the highline.
  • Masters are in for Track.

Membership (30 mins)

  • New member run results – had 3 new members.  Next event is on Sun. 2/22
  • After TS brunch: idea is for a different board member each month to choose a spot for brunch, give directions to location and coordinate getting people over after the TS Awards & pictures.  Eric Greene, Brian and Steph to coordinate spot for Feb.
  • Link to RMRR renewals on Active (hard to find – Stephani ) – Easy to find from our site , but hard to find from Active.  Member letter should state that members should renew via the RMRR website.
  • Renewal issues = 47% Success of “we missed you”? Laurie is sending USPS letters to who?  Doug check so we understand effort.  We decided instead of mailing/emailing lapsed members, Eric, Aurora, and Dave would call.
  • Eric Green’s ideas for the Club:
    • Auto Pay Renewal System – No due to debit card security and volume
    • Name Each Event – Naming each event may be appealing. Ex. “Pancake Sprint” or “Windy Waterton 10 mile”, “Twin Lakes Double 5K”. Eric will make suggestions and we’ll publiceze at next TS. Yes.
    • Offer shorter run course – This is mainly for those months with longer races. If a member doesn’t like the long 10 mile run, he/she could opt for 5 miles instead. If some members don’t run with the club for 3 months because the distance is too long, we might loose them. Would need to contemplate impact on TS scoring.  Agreed to revisit at a later date.
    • Happy Hour type runs – This could be after a trophy series race (except we would go out for breakfast), after an evening run, etc. Yes.
    •  Bill O’Dell idea – Christmas gift memberships…can we add on active? Create a gift certificate (Ray)

Marketing (.5 hr)- Kevin Downing, Dave Cunningham

  • Dave Cunningham held a call for ideas to make 50th week of events more interesting and fun.  Dave will build ideas and other material into plans for each day’s owner.  That work should be done by end of Feb.

Ideas for each day:

  • Sunday – Bible Park 2 Miler
    • ask News4 to join us with their Fitness Walk
    • do a neighborhood promo – get Bible Park people to come

Rich is looking at a 6-8 week recovery, which is surprisingly short given the 6 artery bypass. He can run again and is looking forward to seeing club members in a few months.
