November Trophy Series – 9M at Prairie Gateway Park

November sees RMRR running at Prairie Gateway Park in Commerce City.  Our 10M Trophy Series and 5k races will start at 9am on Sunday, Nov 4.  This is our next to last race for the year, and a great opportunity for people to improve their Trophy Series scores.  We run on a relatively flat and fast packed gravel trail – good surface for comfortable running and some faster times!

Two important timing things to remember:

  1. Our November race starts at 9am.
  2. Daylight Savings Time begins at 2am before our race.  Set your clock back the night before…or just come early to sign in and help.  Either one is ok!
  3. One more thing…in case you missed it, the race starts at 9am!  And set your clock back!

Overall Trophy Series YTD – Top  10 Times

This is the main TS category…gives you an idea of what you need to do in December to win!  Your top 10 races by points add to your total.  If you didn’t run 10 races…you use the total from what you DID run!  If you did run more than 10, you would drop the ones with the lowest point totals.

October Trophy Series – 8M and 5k at Thornton’s Carpenter Park

Sunday October 7 takes RMRR back to a relatively new location for our October race!  Thornton’s Carpenter Park will see RMRR runners take on a 8M course that loops around the park and surrounding neighborhoods. The course has a nice winding feel and a few little hills to add challenge.  It’s nice!

Our plan is to park and start at the south side of the park.  There is a large parking area there (link below).  Park in the west area near the restrooms, and the race will start there.

You know how this works:  show up an hour early to get your tag and warm up.  Members are free, and guest runners $10 for the Trophy Series race.  As always, we’ll need volunteers to help at the start/finish and at the aid station out on the course.  Please send a note to the RMRR Volunteer Lead if you’re able to help whether as a runner or  a non-runner!

September Trophy Series – 10M and 5k (and 20M!) at Westminster City Park

Hey, friends.  This month’s Trophy Series will be combined with our Marathon Training Race event, and we’ll hold them all at Westminster City Park.

We’ll have the 10 Mile Trophy Series race, a 5k for those who don’t want to run the TS distance, and both 10M and 20M Marathon Training races for others.  Don’t worry – we’ll make start times clear for everyone!

The course follows the Big Dry Creek trail north and east for 5 miles, then turns around and returns to the start.  Easy smooth running with a simple course, and it’s tailor-made for a fast race.

Race time:  8am on Sunday, Sept 8
Westminster City Park Driving and Parking Directions

You know how this works:  show up an hour early to get your tag and warm up.  Members are free, and guest runners $10 for the Trophy Series or 10M MTS, $25 for the 20M version.  As always, we’ll need volunteers to help at the start/finish and at the two aid stations out on the course.  Please send a note to the RMRR Volunteer Lead if you’re able to help whether as a runner or  a non-runner!

August Trophy Series and BBQ at DeKoevend Park!!

Friends, Friday August 3 brings our August Trophy Series race and cookout/potluck at deKoevend Park in Centennial.  This 5k run on the Highline Canal is one of our favorite races – nice course, nice location, and fantastic food afterwards.

This year will be even more epic.  Our friends with the Colorado Masters are joining us!  We will have a big crowd and a grand, grand picnic when we’re done.

Three important notes for this year’s race:

  1. We are back to the pavilion we’ve used in past years, Pavilion C that’s near the Rec Center.  We will cook and eat near the finish there.  You will want to park behind the rec center, and there is a bridge over the little ditch to the start.  There’s lots of parking for everyone.
  2. Bring your chairs!  This location has lots of seating, but we will need more with the crowd we expect.
  3. Because we’re running with the Masters, we will NOT use our staggered start.  Everyone will start at 6:30pm, so the start will be exciting!  Don’t worry – you will be scored the same way we always have, and your score will be adjusted based on your predicted time and start.

Race time is 6:30pm, and it’s more important that ever to come early to register and get ready.  We will have a portapotty near the start, but park restrooms are a few hundred yards away, so come early enough to make that walk if it’s needed.  Even more important:  remember to bring a dish for the potluck – side dish, salad, dessert, whatever you wish.  Bring enough for 8-10 people, and then look forward to the fun feast!  The club will provide hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, drinks, and plates and utensils.  We’ll also have a kids run with lots of fun prizes, so bring the family.

We will need more volunteers than usual to help setup the start and finish, staff aid stations and turnarounds, and to help setup our eating area.  We also need people to help cook – have any interest in being the hamburger and hot dog chef?  Help out and volunteer if you can.
