August, 2008 RMRR – Board Meeting Minutes

Race turnouts:
- 89 at July TS 2007, 91 at July TS 2008

Marketing (1 hr)
- 50th anniversary committees
- Front Range Walker issue is resolved. Bob Carlson doesn’t object, just puzzled. DTC still up in the air.
- Events – Doug Smith w/ Mike Quispe, Jim Chow, Scott Kukel, Bonnie Keefe, John/Betsy Lyle, Deb Cunningham.
§ Track relay – meeting to be scheduled with committee.
§ TS Race: Move August Friday night race to Saturday? July pancake breakfast?

Lisa Paige’s request to support Kids Running the Nation. Lisa is asking for $50 donation per club -RMRR will make $50 donation
- 50th anniversary + History write-up for website – Kevin to re-write for review and post on website at a future date.
- Website write-up on RMRR teams rules- Bob Basse.
- Take Bowflag to Georgetown – yes
- Post race active stretching – skip August
Logistics (15 mins)
1. Scoring – Training for Felix + IPICO timers
2. Need to send in TimeTech machine with blue strap to be fixed…need to have John get estimate 1st…if high price, need to consider buying a new time machine.
3. Ric to pick up new battery jump box for power.
4. The board considered a request to revise the Resolute Runner award, but rejected the request.
5. Database – Access & MS Office – done, Brad do we have a legal copy of Microsoft office?

Focus Groups
1. Round robin of board – what do you get from club – why here? – Deb
2. Focus group of young runners?
3. Focus group of non-members?
4. Web site survey w/ member/non-member question?
5. Outreach to counterparts in other clubs.
6. Constitution – revise sections like sending newsletter. (Oct/Nov)
7. Don’t race at Cherry Creek rez – $350 + hassle to deal w/ staff. Crown Hill – problems over bathroom & litter.
Signature Event:
1. Pike’s Peak Road Runners have Ascent
2. NYRR have NYC Marathon
Marketing ideas:
1. Training:
a. Talk to Doug, Carmen, Bonnie, Mike Robbert about them training for RMRR. Free training w/ us if club member?
b. Misc queries from citizens interested in training w/o fund raising or paying a big fee. (Colfax example from Adam)
2. Non-RMRR race series.
a. Provide prize money for highest 3 RMRR finishers in Derek Griffith’s Colorado Runner series. Qualification = club member as of 5/1/08?
