Membership dues:  up $1k over last year, Space Age down $320
Merchandise income down
–>  Dave send membership reports to Leslie at same time as Eric
Expenses are up – permits more expensive
–> Dave check with Ric:  pull any $$ out of cash box?
all told – our net revenue is up $1300
–>  Active:  setup membership for 2014
Mile High Loop – met with Albus Brooks, city council.  Very excited and enthusiastic.  However…parks and rec rules say person needs to be dead for 7 years before naming.  Jeanne Robb helping as well.

Nov and Dec TS

Course for November – nice course, but big gravel north of the school.  Some 5k people got confused and didn’t quite follow the right path.  Problem with 5k and TS finishing at the same time, hard to score.  Others liked the location and view.  Would be tough if weather was bad.
Sunday race – Lisa ready, volunteers getting lined up.  May have a larger crowd because of presence in Competitor mag.  What if…we have 200?

Deb and Dave proposal – Shift in Race Distances?

Steph likes the long distances.  Don’t shift to 5k races.  Can’t find races to run at those distances
Janet and Leslie – not bothered by the distances or race finish being after people are gone –
Move the 5k to start later – ok, but problem is that Steph is using these people to staff the finish line, so that could be aproblem.
Lots of reaction against removing the long races – part of club
What if we just mvoe the 5k start time to a little later?  What if 5k series is handicapped?
Stop 0:00 starts –
Idea of surveying members – what would we ask them?
– what interests them about the club?  What would encourage sticking around?
– idea of a 5k series
– shifting 5k start times?
– what would help you stick around after a race?  or would you
– more $$ for food?  change allocation to $100
– better raffle – announce what it will be  beforehand
– who else could help with raffle ideas?
Banquet – Sunday 27th at Homestead
David – has ideas about jackets, but not quite done
Ken – nice awards from Crown
Ken will figure out what we should get – majority wanted the pint glass
Feb race – John Bullock and Rick Edrich
April race – confirmed for Saturday

October 28 2013 Board Meeting

Treasurer’s Report

balance is up, membership payments are up
Race permits continue to become more expensive
Up $5300 from last year YTD – doing well
Still remaining are bigger year end expenses – awards, banquet, etc. – so final increase won’t be as big.

Potts Memorial

– thought of changing Mile High Loop in City Park
– but…could need City Council help, so Leslie meeting with people in November.
– let John Meyer know what’s going on
– Leslie also proposed that we rename the volunteer award for Potts; would get us some visibility.  Did not review.

Trophy Series – October – Cherry Creek Trail – Parker

– Results – Trophy Race
– wondering why we had to run on dirt for a while.  Reason is to make the turnaround easier, but it seems kind of weird.
– didn’t enjoy the walk from parking.  Met with the HOA, and they expressed their worries about our race and crowding.  Is what it is.
– did have one person miss the turn, and she was upset.

Mark Plaatjes – BRC connection.  He is having their key contact for the Denver store call Dave to determine what we can do together.
Denver Marathon Water station – went well, no issues
Track  Wed  – Last one will be Oct 30 – Will start back up in the Spring
Wed night long runs at River Point shopping Center (Hampden and Santa Fe) 6pm

Went well, no real issues.  Running off the trail for the finish is not so great, but that’s a consequence of the path and bike traffic.

     – repaint mile markers, especially little wood ones

Stacy – agreed to do Facebook.  Dave working with her to get going.

Michael Cosper – passed name to David for race directing.

Membership – Hilarie is interested in taking over.  Plan: review the processes at next board meeting for MailChimp; set up a separate time to review the Access processes; include Dave C

Partner with Run.Com (Boulder Running Company New store in Feb).  Dave has talked a little with Keith Johnson, talking some about partnership ideas.Perhaps talk some now as they aim towards opening a new store

Long runs will start after Track

Race went well.  Ice cream was a hit.  People liked the course and the food.  Perhaps next time have someone bring the ice cream who leaves the house later so less melting…but that’s a detail – it was great.

Agreed – need someone to drive it (Leslie or Bonnie?) and check with Creigh – see what he’s thinking.  Work on a bench together?  Club could give some ($100??) and solicit donations if there is a leader.  Will let people on Friday know what we’re thinking.

October Race at Cottonwood.  Parks people there wanted to understand what the club does, and hopefully they’re reconsidering our parking situation (let us park nearby).  Bob B will check with Bonnie about this.

Need to build a list of positions on board/club that need new blood.  Do this and have some names for each list.  Eric is ready to give up membership duties, and we have other people ready to turn things over.  Dave said he would create a list of duties and people who might be good for them.
