Insurance

Leslie recommends that we cancel our liability via our car insurance AND cancel the Operations coverage – save $1600 a year.

Marketing

– Water Bottles:  agree that we want to complete this.  Lisa will work with Polar to complete.
>> Dave send info to Lisa and ask what else he should do.

Questions about how to reach more people.
– Do we want to try six months of sending email through Derek/Runco
– idea of posting new members to Facebook
– need to post more on Facebook

Facebook engagement is way up with photos.
Issue with Facebook – member posts aren’t seen in the middle of the Page.  Fix = admin reposting.
When members post, we admins need to repost on the page so others can see it
>>  admins will do this ad hoc for now, and we’ll see if we need someone assigned to it
Lisa will look into how pages can tag people like in our photos.

Treasurers Report

– down from last year by about $1300. Not clear why.
– fewer members is the basic reason
– one other funny issue: hard to track cash from cash box, and Leslie tracks as cash.
– Expenses
– Race Expenses: permitting expenses are stable
– had ribbon expenses last year, won’t need for a while
– haven’t paid our RRCA dues yet
– Insurance: Leslie wondered if we were duplicating coverage with our separate insurance and RRCA coverage. Working with agent to figure this out. Only issue we have equipment that we need to

November Race

– had some issues with people getting lost and missing the final
– idea of running this as an out and back – start to the east, then loop around north

Treasurer’s Report

Leslie reports: I got the financials caught up before I left. Everything is in good shape. I do not have the exact numbers, but it appeared that MTS revenue was up.

Trophy Race – October – Cherry Creek Trail – Parker

Had very low turnout for 10M – only 40 runners

Trophy Series Race – Nov 2, 2013

Prairie Gateway Park – Just outside of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Visitors entrance ( just north of Dicks Sporting Goods Park)

– Lisa to drive social media/Facebook page work – getting people to post and like pages. Will also manage ads, other mktg work.
– Lisa suggests create albums for photos, everyone post their photos as they wish
– Important to get members to like pages and posts. It’s not enough to like the RMRR page – they need to view and like posts to boost our scores and get more RMRR items appearing on peoples’ timelines.
– Facebook group is closed.

Last one will be Oct 29 – Will start back up in the Spring. Dinner afterwards at Park Burger – everyone can come.

Wed night long runs at River Point shopping Center (Hampden and Santa Fe) 6pm – begin in November.

2015 Race Schedule

change to City Park race – April 12
Ric R – concern about July 31 race – he would miss it. Can we switch? If we do the first Friday in August, it’s the night before Georgetown. But…Ric has been running for 30 years and we should help out. David will work on this.

Ideas for goals for next year

– new people usually sign up via active, while renewers are doing it via check
– need to push the “I am a Runner” idea
– better presence in Stores
– water bottle or socks to people who do
– something for people who join the club

Why so many people the year of the 50th Anniversary?
– lots of energy, lots of work from Deb and others

New members and building connection

idea of increase dues $10, give people an RMRR shirt. No one assigned to work on it yet – will discuss at next meeting.

December Board meeting

at Cunninghams on Dec 1. It will be our open meeting for the year, so we will invite all members, have a pot luck, beer provided. Two key things – board election and discuss next year plan.

1. Treasurer’s Report (copied from last meeting)

Email from Leslie Mitchell: “Hi everyone – once again, I am out of town and will miss the board meeting. I’ve attached the current financials. Of note:

Our income is down substantially from YTD 2013. Membership revenue is down by $1,700, primarily in the amount of dues paid by check. Does anyone have any checks that members have given them for renewal?

Trophy Series revenue is down as well. This is a bit of a catch-all account. Anytime there is excess cash in the cash box, it gets deposited to this account (I don’t know where else to put it). So this account tends to have big swings in it, but usually by this time in the year it has evened out. Is there excess cash in the cash box?

Expenses are in line with last year. As a reminder, we had a big purchase of Trophy Series award ribbons last year. If you take that expense out (roughly $1,000) our expenses are in line.

So overall, I am concerned about membership revenue. I went to the post office last week and collected checks from Dave Cunningham, so I think everything has been deposited that I am aware of.

Eric has previewed the course; there are 2 porta-potties (not sure if they are unlocked) at Safeway,

Need 2 water stops manned (5k turnaround, 2.5 mile), 1 unmanned (mile 5 turnaround)

Stephanie will get in touch with Eric about volunteers

Bob has permits for Parker

We are on the Cottonwood HOA calendar of events!

Eric will pick up food ($100) and mark the course on Friday

 

4. Marathon Series

 

55 people on Sunday

Briefcase was missing, general organization issues with bins, pens, etc.

But we had everything we needed

MTS in general was smaller this year than normal

Was big when it was at the Goodson Rec Center and when we had Fast Forward attend

Also big when we partnered with the Colfax Marathon

Do we want to do anything to up the attendance?

-can we do one without concrete? ie one near Dick’s Sporting Goods, Arsenal or Dekoevend

-potentially a trail route? ie Bear Creek Lake Park

-posters up in stores?

-link it to existing marathons

**Deb will ask Bonnie about permitting for Dekoevend and/or other dirt options

Would need someone else involved if we want to have it more available for slower runners

 

Other weekly options?

Encourage members to post on Facebook what runs they are doing personally to grow a community sense
